Heavy production of Makhmali and Sayapatri Flower , making its garland and exporting it to national and international market.
Makhamali and Sayapatri flower are very popular in Hindu community. The flower is compulsory in Tihar. It is used to make garland for Brother's Day(Bhai Tika). The garland is put around the brother's neck by their sister for protection. In average, a Nepalese family need 5 to 6 garlands of makhmali during tihar festival. Not only garlands, this flower is also used for decoration and medicinal purpose. This flower has a great storage property so it can be stored for even a year. On the other hand, Sayapatri a.k.a. Marigold is a very beautiful and valuable flower. It is also used to make garlands. Garlands of sayapatri is used to decorate houses in Tihar, automobile decoration and also worn in Special occasion. The flower is used to worship Gods and Goddesses in hindu communities. In contrary to makhmali, this flower is consumed all days of a year.
There are many Nepalese residing in Foreign countries. Every Year the demand of garland of makhmali and sayapatri is increasing rapidly. Besides,
In Hawaii, it is commonly used in long-lasting leis since it retains its shape and color after drying. In Trinidad, the flowers are boiled to make a tea which is used for baby gripe, oliguria, cough and diabetes; cooling.
Every year there comes a huge demand of makhmali garlands and sayapatri flower but they are not being fulfilled. It is because our production is very low. The demands are then fulfilled by importing from neighbouring countries in huge price. Local people cannot reach customers and customers are left with no choice but to purchase from third party in large price.
My idea is to increase the production of these flowers by minimizing obstacles. I want to aware farmers about the benefits of its production . They will cultivate sayapatri in winter season and makhmali and sayapatri from baisakh to kartik. Then we will manage the market of the garlands and make sure every garland reaches the customers. We will support national and international market equally. This will reduce import from neighbouring countries. Local farmers will earn Rs.30,000 to Rs.2,00,000 per family according to their production. This will decrease proverty rate and chindren of rural areas could get education fee. We will make this business and support farmers by any means. We will even try introducing machines for making garlands and provide necessary fertilisers and pesticides necessary for farmers. We will support them at all cost.

Target Audience :
In average the cost of 1 garland of makhmali is Rs.20 and sayapatri is Rs. 25. Sayapatri can be sold even without making garland at Rs. 200 per kg.
In tihar, average purchase of a family is 6 pcs.of makhmali and 8 pcs of sayapatri and 1 kg of flower.
If we only covered 1/5th of the market , we can manage to cover about 60,000 families in Nepal and 10,000 international families. This equals 8*60000*25+6*60000*20+200*60000+8*10000*25+6*10000*20+200*10000=Rs.3,64,00,000
The major benefit of this idea is that it requires very less investment and total cost exceeds no more than Rs.4,00,000 including all possible expenditure. Thus net benefit will be of Rs. 3,44,00,000 per annum(*I have considered only one fifth of market). Also, this business improves local standard, fluorishes nepalese culture, supports Nepalese products and all dedicated to Nepal.
The main target of this idea is to uplift economic condition of almost every rural family in Nepal. It is to be noted that these flowers can be cultivated along with other crops so it will not affect the production of major crops. In my opinion, it can decrease proverty rate of Nepal rapidly. This could be a milestone in rural community. :)
